On September 19, 1980 (CE), in the rural Michigan countryside, fourteen-year-old George Dain meets living beings from a far-away world called Silva Rein where is taken to live for several years. There, he is educated extensively on Silva Rein's interstellar civilization and becomes Silva Rein's first official envoy to Earth and resident minister.
